Diagrams are not only useful in professional environments, but they can also help the layman for writing down priorities, complex chores, and conditional shopping lists (courtesy of the wife). Using simple vector graphics and a large database of objects, Dia Diagram can accommodate almost any requirement one might have.
Dia Diagram is very easy to use. Simply select the desired shape then draw it on the workspace like you would a square in any drawing program. Objects can be modified later, but only in regards to their position, width, and height. For more complex shapes, you can use the specific functions that let you create custom lines and polygons, which can be altered by adding or deleting nodes, or corners as they're called.
There are global settings for line width and object colors, but you can define several custom parameters for an object by double-clicking on it.
Dia Diagram features more than a thousand predefined objects that cover every facet of diagram creation. Electric symbols, flowchart symbols, and logic symbols, only to name a few, can be used exclusively or combined in any way you wish.
Polylines and arrows snap to the edges of objects while all objects can be set to snap to a virtual grid which helps make the diagram look balanced and organized.
You can add text to several predefined objects. Dia Diagram supports various input methods, including Cyrillic and several Asian typefaces.
